There are such funny sights along the drive to my office at Hosur Road; all of them have to do with Kannada movie ads. There seems to be a strange pattern they follow:
There's one with the angry looking hero Upendra showing that he's holding a stick in his hand.
Then there's one with some other angry looking hero holding a stone, in a very threatening way.
Then there's one with a stupid looking hero (must be Shivraj Kumar) holding a sword!
Do all kannada movies follow the same paradigm?

You must have been looking at the same billboard every morning. That's the "Hold Something, Anything" billboard.
There are many other billboards in Bangalore with many different Kannada movie posters.

no man, i'm looking at different posters. seriously. we know that they all have violence, but these ads have a weird pattern of emphasizing only the violence. that too with archaic tools like swords, stones and sticks. No guns yet.
@Swaroop: How about you "pay-a-pal", pal as in me, and I will explain you about the paradigm with neat labeled diagrams and what not
@Chintu: Yeah they are. That's the idea. Why else would they have something like "Student - When the best student becomes....". I mean what are they trying to tell us? When the best student becomes what? Is that what the movie about? Are they trying to warn us about something. Damn its complicated.
@Swaroop: Are you crazy mon? You can't have guns in a movie poster. It wont appeal to the "masses' expectations". And of course posters portray violence. It may also have a girl somewhere who is fat and shows some clevage. That's the whole idea of the posters. That's the only way one can get people to movies. Of course, there is the other impossible way of making good movies, but we all know that's way too over rated.

@Swaroop: But you are right. It is freakish that all the posters have random guys waiting to come out into real world at the first chance they get and beat the hell out of you, that too with a wide range of local weapons!
