Good morning and welcome to the second edition of Weekly Review. This week, we're reviewing Microsoft's Windows Vista. I can tell you upfront that this is going to get very controversial: we have two Microsoft haters in this group. But only two people in the group have actually installed and used Microsoft Vista Ultimate, so here are the facts and opinions:
FACT: Vista editions (home basic, business, ultimate, etc. ) have VERY different features. We're talking about Ultimate edition.
FACT: Vista has sold more than 20 million licenses since launch. Very strong sales numbers.
FACT: Results don't just happen.
OPINIONS: [feel free to edit these]
Mine: Once again, Microsoft has gone beyond anything that anyone could expect. Vista looks great, sounds great and runs games much better than XP. It has a more efficient way of dealing with hardware drivers and manages to churn out better performance. The ultimate edition has so many features, it obviates the need for many previously essential software. Disappointed with DVD burning and Speech Recognition though.
Ketan's: Awesome. Couldn't be happier.
Chethan: Still convinced that we're using a transformation pack.
Sudhi, Looking up from manutd website: Vista? Who?
Nithin: "I have slightly less RAM than needed."
Chintu: "You have southpark?"
Pavan: I'm switching to Unix.
Abhi: Vista nodilla man. Thumba kelsa ide.
So there you have it: eight profound opinions. Stay tuned for similar nuggets of wisdom, right here on Together we drown.

Abhishek didn't believe for 10 min that Ketan had installed Vista until we showed him the properties window.
But then you can't really blame him as he usually gets confused between Windows and Linux, also that he was tired working late night during that weekend.
Abhishek has grown fatter!!
I wont say what said I will say. I have worked on Vista in the office and also on XP. I think Vista is like really really bad in utilizing the resources. The "graphics" it claims to possess which Swaroop says is "insanely beautiful" requires 1 GB RAM. Insane! I have seen a program for Linux which uses about 34 MB RAM to do the same. In fact, much better. And all the security crap is of course, crap. I could have dug up a lot of blogs which gave solid evidence as to how it is crap, but then, you get the picture.
I think XP is atleast better than Vista in terms of workability etc.
well, you need a certain amount of RAM for each OS. XP would suck if you had less than 128 ram, XP SP2 sucks if you have less than 256 ram, and so on. Vista is just the next step. here's what i'm trying to say:
GIVEN 1 gb ram, vista utilizes it much better than anything else, as far as i've seen. Games work much better.
